Warner Music UK has announced the promotion of Raoul Chatterjee to the position of SVP, Commercial, Warner Music UK. Chatterjee reports to Christian Tattersfield, CEO Warner Music UK and Chairman, Warner Bros Records UK. He replaces Alan Young, who left the company to pursue new opportunities in December.

In his new role, Chatterjee, previously Director, Commercial Innovation, Warner Music UK, will assume responsibility for all aspects of commercial strategy and operations. He will oversee all relationships with retail partners, both physical and digital, with a focus on ensuring that Warner Music UK’s commercial approach continues to reflect the changing retail environment and the wide variety of ways in which fans consume music.

Chatterjee began his career at Warner Music UK, where he served an eight-year tenure in the Commercial team. He was subsequently Director of Sales at Ministry of Sound, before becoming MD of Trinity Street Direct. He returned to Warner Music in early 2009, since which time he has led the development of a wide variety of compelling new digital and physical products.

Christian Tattersfield commented, “Raoul’s understanding of today’s commercial landscape is second to none and the breadth of his experience gives him a unique perspective on how to develop products and shape retail experiences that appeal to music fans. Raoul is an exceptionally original thinker with a keen sense of the business opportunities open to us and I believe he will provide very strong leadership for the Commercial team.”

He added, “We are extremely grateful to Alan for the important strategic role he played in aiding our transformation from a purely physical business into one which embraces digital innovation and benefits from diversified revenue streams. Alan has been pivotal in establishing strong relationships with key retailers and for building a market-leading team. We wish him well in all his future endeavours.”

Raoul Chatterjee said, “I’m delighted to be taking this role at a time when our industry is evolving so rapidly. Our strong performance in recent months has created great momentum within the commercial team and UK labels. I look forward to building on that to help create innovative campaigns that deliver even greater value for our artists and our commercial partners.”
